Stress . . .

“So he said to me, ’This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel.’ Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty, (Zechariah 4:6).

Stress… We all have it and it takes many forms. It could be what we may be feeling when he when we first wake up in the morning anticipating our day. It can be what we may be feeling due to situations and circumstances that are beyond our control. Stress can also be self-inflicted by trying to unrealistically accomplish everything all in an hour. We were not made to be superheroes, much less a superhuman, but we were created to be dependent upon the Lord.

Stress can be caused by many different things. It could be our adrenals are overloaded and need some extra support for the day. We could be internalizing everything we “feel” like we have to get done today and need to put things in perspective. We might need to eat some healthier food, do some relaxation techniques or engage in some kind of exercise to help get rid of the anxiety we may be feeling.

There are all kinds of things we can do to help calm our heart, mind and body down, but nothing works more effectively than taking all of our concerns to the Lord. When we confess our weaknesses, we confess our need and dependence for him and that gives Him the authority He needs to speak into our lives.

Take time to sit still and read his word. Use the Abide app to have someone speak and pray God’s truth over your life while you’re on your way to work. Turn on the radio or some music really loud so it drowns out everything else you may be feeling and start singing to combat the enemy’s lies.

When we take the time to open doors for the Lord to walk through, it pushes the enemy out of the doors we don’t need opened and gives the Lord the authority we need him to have. He will protect us from any and all distractions, so we can focus on what He has put in front of us.
